Christine Evans Earns Community College Internationalization Fellowship
快播视频 Cortland Community College鈥檚 Christine Evans has won a Community College International Fellowship (CCIF) to work with Cornell University鈥檚 world areas studies programs on curricular enhancements for courses at TC3. The CCIF program has a goal of helping increase global learning, intercultural knowledge and competence of students at community colleges across the state.
Evans, an adjunct associate professor, teaches Spanish. Her project involves creating a literature supplement for the Beginning Spanish II course at TC3. 鈥淥ften, beginning language courses don't have a literature component,鈥 said Evans. 鈥淚 wanted to work on compiling level-appropriate authentic texts to use in my class.鈥
It is the second fellowship for Evans, who previously worked on integrating video and film content into Spanish classes during the pandemic-impacted 2020-21 academic year. 鈥淚 had a great experience then, and I鈥檓 enjoying the new project already,鈥 said Evans, who noted the faculty and staff at Cornell have been supportive and generous resources. The project will culminate with a literature supplement for the Beginning Spanish II class, but Evans hopes also to find readings to use with the Beginning Spanish I classes.
The relationship between TC3 and the CCIF program dates back to 2019-20, when three faculty were awarded fellowships. Through the years, TC3 faculty have received ten fellowships to enhance the experience and quality of education for students.
