Leadership Awards Recognize Exceptional Students

Every year, ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Cortland Community College pays tribute to students, student clubs, and campus organizations for their leadership and contributions to the College with the annual Leadership Awards. The 2024 winners were honored at a luncheon on May 1.

The Student Leader of the Year Award was presented to Wendy Nguabenemutu-Samani. The award recognizes a student that has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills during the academic year. (photo above, with Vice President of Student Affairs Seth Thompson)

Maddie Blide and VP Seth Thompson

The Resiliency Award went to Maddie Blide. This award is for a student leader who has demonstrated tenacity in the midst of academic and/or personal hardship.

Kylie Golden-Appleton and VP Seth Thompson

The New Student of the Year Award was given to Kylie Golden-Appleton. This award is for a student who has shown exceptional school spirit, academic ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ, and overall campus pride during their first academic year.

SGA

The Outstanding Organization Award went to the Student Government Association. This award is for an organization that has excelled in making a positive influence on the student body.

Debate Club and VP Seth Thompson

The New Organization of the Year Award was given to the Debate Club for succeeding in having a positive impact in its first year of existence at ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ Cortland Community College.

Outdoor Adventure Club

The Program of the Year Award is for a student-run program that excelled in student engagement and participation. It went to the Outdoor Adventure Club for its Haunted Trails.

Deidre Kirkem and VP Seth Thompson

Two other awards were presented at the luncheon. Deidre Kirkem was named the Club Advisor of the Year 

Giantonia, Frankie, Cristina, and Carmelina Vigliotti Martinez

and a Special Award was presented to Frankie, Carmelina, Giantonia, and Cristina Vigliotti Martinez; a family of siblings that are have been active while students at the College and, for the three that have already graduated, remained incredibly supportive of TC3 and all its students.
