At �첥��Ƶ Cortland we encourage all to report incidents of sexual violence, and other forms of harassment and discrimination, so that we have the opportunity to respond in a way that diminishes the likelihood that this behavior will be repeated.

The Title IX Committee logs each awareness and training session and other programs provided throughout the year.

Conversations are kept as confidential as possible, but limited information about incidents of sexual misconduct must be shared with relevant administrators and a Title IX Coordinator so that the College can take action if necessary for reasons of safety.

Licensed counselors will not report any information to the College without the student’s consent.

Although Title IX is best known for breaking down barriers in sports for women and girls, it also prohibits all discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex, including all sexual violence.

Title IX reads, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

The Harassment/Discrimination Complaint form is to be used by students and employees to file a complaint of an incident based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, veteran’s status, age, disability, marital or parental status, or other protected category.
